(in English: Towns, their names, arms and flags — a study in history and heraldry) Medium: book Main author(s):Dr. Széll Sándor Language:Hungarian Edition (publisher: place): Vármegyei Szociográfiák Kiadóhivatala: Budapest (Hungary) Edition date:1941 (no edition specified; presumably first) Pages: 94 Format: 230×215mm
The Szell’s book is our only source for many of these
flags, but it is not clear as to what period these flags were used
as claimed by the book. I doubt very much that they were actually
used during the time of Austria-Hungary.
They seems very much more like they were devised in 1941
— but it is not even clear weather the designs shown in
Szell’s book are just projects or if they were ever prescribed
in any formal way and after all weather they were used. Željko Heimer, 09 Oct 2005
