      Presentation of

      Ansião Commune is one of the six communes of Ansião Municipality; it had 2728 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 19.6 km². In 2013 the neighbouring communes Lagarteira and Torre de Vale de Todos were incorporated.

      Shield Purpure, an eradicated ash tree Or, flanked by two lizards Argent, both set in pale, surrounded by a rosary Argent with a cross fleury Or in base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "LAGARTEIRA - ANSIÃO"
      Meaning:
      The lizards (Port.: lagartos) are canting elements. The communes name might be something like a tree, visited by lizards. In this case the tree would also be a canting element.
